Orchestra

The Orquestra Simfonica Julia Carbonell de les Terres de Lleida was founded in 2002 and is supported by the local government, the Diputació de Lleida. Its cultural mission is to bring symphonic music to the province of Lleida, making it accesible to all. The orchestra tours regularly throughout Lleida and its surrounding areas extending its cultural arm to every inhabitant.

If the Orquestra exists at all it is thanks to many dedicated and devoted community members and institutions. Music schools and their teachers, community choruses, concert and festival promoters as well as the government itself have prepared and provided the ideal framework to make this orchestra a reality.

In its short existence and according to its projected aims, the orchestra has already played many concerts in small towns which have enjoyed for the very first time the sound of a symphony orchestra. In addition, it has performed at such emblematic music institutions as the Gran Teatro del Liceu, the Palau de la Musica Catalana and the Auditori in Barcelona.

Since its formation, the Orquestra Simfonica Julia Carbonell de les Terres de Lleida has become a firmly consolidated reality that has achieved great public and critical acclaim. Thanks to the hard work of its musicians and staff and the support of political, cultural and financial institutions, it now holds a relevant position within the current musical life in Catalonia.

Alfons Reverté is the artistic and musical director since the foundation of the Orchestra.
